The WIFO Economic DatabaseThe Austrian Institute of Economic Research has established a comprehensive statistical information system. The WIFO Economic Database contains comprehensive statistical data on the Austrian economy. This core area of the WIFO Economic Database is refered to as the data class "KGEN". It contains practically all the time series the research staff of the WIFO uses in its ongoing empirical work about the Austrian economy. The approximately 28 000 time series are subdivided into the following main areas:
Some of the data sets are compiled by WIFO, but most of the data are obtained from domestic data producers (such as the Austrian National Bank, the Austrian Central Statistical Office, and the Main Association of Austrian Social Security Institutions). These data are updated on a regular basis. Special attention is paid to maintaining long time series of high quality and to providing easy access to database users. Aside from the Austrian data, the database contains time series from international organisations such as the German National Bank, EUROSTAT, the OECD, the IMF, the UN and the World Bank. For some of those data series the WSR does not have distributing rights at the moment. Therefore these data series can only be accessed by universities and govermental agencies. wiiw Annual Database on Eastern EuropeGeneral description
